One day@somewhere #DAY15 - Family trip to Iwamuro hot spring in March.

LEICA M-P (Typ 240) + Summicron 50mm f/2.0 Leitz

One weekend in March, my younger brother and his wife, along with their children and our father, went on a trip together for the first time since last October. This time, our destination was Niigata again, it was a traditional Japanese inn "Takashima-ya" in Iwamuro hot-spring.

This is the Sayama Parking Area on the Kenoh Expressway. Even though it's just a little over an hour from home yet, I'm already in vacation mood. Since I got my current car, there is no place to put an ashtray in the car, so I stopped smoking in the car. Because of that, I take a cigarette break every 1 to 2 hours.

Once I passed through the Kanetsu Tunnel, it was a world of snow. When I was smoking a cigarette seeing a view like this at the Shiozawa Ishiuchi Service Area, my iPhone that rarely gets phone calls, got a call. It was about work. I may've ended up being here for about an hour or more than that dealing with that.

I arrived at the inn safely, though a little later than planned. My nephew (the older one) who had grown fond of the camera that I always carry with me took photos again. My Leica Q has already become almost exclusively for my nephew to use when we gather for family trips. It seems like my younger brother and his wife were worried so much that he might break the camera, but well, if it breaks, it can't be helped.

The next morning, before departure, I took some photos at the main building of the inn that has been around since the Edo period. The photo at the beginning of this article is also one of them.

Here, there was also a strong sense of what can be called "Taisho Roman" atmosphere. Well, it's already existed even in the Meiji period or the Edo period, before the Taisho period.

This is a photo taken at Echigo-Kawaguchi Service Area, leaving the inn and heading back home. On the Niigata side of the Kanetsu Tunnel, it was snowing quite heavily just like the day before around Echigo-Yuzawa. However, even further away from the mountains than Echigo-Yuzawa, Echigo-Kawaguchi was also still covered in this much snow. I think snow will disappear next time I travel. I'm looking forward to seeing them again.

See you then.
