One day＠somewhere #DAY20 - We went on a family trip to Kashiwazaki with my father and my brother's family.
This year's spring holiday wasn't as long as usual, but we went on our first family trip since the year-end trip to Shinagawa Prince Hotel. The destination this time is a seaside ryokan in Kashiwazaki, Niigata.
今年は例年と比べるとそんなに長い連休にならなかった春の大型連休、年末の品川プリンスホテル以来の家族旅行に行ってきた。今回の目的地は新潟は柏崎の海岸沿いの旅館。
My brother coordinated the trip itself, as he always does for us. If my health weren't an issue, I would've driven too, but since I'm still not feeling 100%, I took the Shinkansen to Nagaoka instead. I made the arrangements for booking the Shinkansen by myself. I took the Green Car on the way there and tried Gran Class for the first time on the way back, so the travel time was smooth and comfortable.
旅行自体のコーディネートはいつも通り弟がやってくれた。体調に問題さえなければ自分も車で行くんだけど、まだ健康状態に不安が残るってことで自分は長岡までは新幹線移動。新幹線の予約の手配とかは自分でやった。行きはグリーン車で帰りは初のグランクラスだったから移動時間も楽々で快適。
I talk with my father once a week over video call, usually for about an hour, but it's still nice to see each other in person. As for my brother, I only really get to see him during trips like this, but even so, just having the chance to meet face-to-face and talk makes a big difference.
父とは週に1回ビデオ通話でいつも1時間くらい話しているけど、やっぱり直接会うのはいいね。弟はこういう旅行の時にしか直接会える機会がないけど、それでもこうやって会って顔合わせて話すって機会があるかないかは全然違う。
We had some drinks and a seafood-focused dinner. The photo above shows the snow crab, but what I didn't get a shot of was the big boat platter full of sashimi, it was absolutely amazing. Honestly, just that huge serving of sashimi alone was more than enough to make me happy. Hmm, sushi didn't come out this day, but I'd really like to go have some sometime soon.
酒飲んで海鮮料理中心の夕食。上の写真はズワイガニだけど、写真には撮らなかったけど舟盛りでたんまり出てきた刺身はすごくおいしかったなー。なんかあの大量の刺身だけでもう大満足だった。うーん、この日は出てこなかったけど、今度近々寿司は食べに行きたいな。
I remember this ochazuke at the end being incredibly good, but I had already had quite a bit to drink by then, so I can't really recall the exact taste. Still, like I said earlier, I just remember that it was really good.
この締めのお茶漬け、めちゃくちゃおいしかった記憶はあるんだけど、もう結構酒を飲んだ後だったのでちゃんとした味を思い出せない。ただ、先に書いた通り、めちゃくちゃおいしかったって記憶だけはある。
The next family trip is probably going to be around summer again. Since I've been seeing my nephews every few months for the past few years, I haven't really felt like they've grown this much, but when I look back at photos from a few years ago, I'm surprised at how much they've grown and gotten bigger.
I hope I can drive myself on the next trip again.

次の家族旅行はまた夏くらいになる予定。ここ何年か、甥っ子達と数ヶ月に一回のペースで会っているからあまり大きくなっているんだって実感がなかったんだけど、数年前の写真とか見ると今と比べてめちゃくちゃ大きくなっていることに驚いたりしている。
次の旅行はまた自分で運転していけるといいなー。
