Gadgets and what I use at home #2 - HomePod and HomePod mini
Like Apple TV, I've used HomePod since it was released in Japan. HomePod got on sale a year and half later in Japan than the U.S. and some other countries, so I waited for a long time. By the way, After HomePod mini was released, I added a HomePod mini as well.
Apple TV と同じように HomePod は日本で発売された時から使っている。HomePod は日本での発売がアメリカとか他の国より1年半遅くなったから随分待った。ちなみに HomePod mini の発売後には HomePod mini も1台追加した。
Siri and HomeKit.
I haven't written about this on this series though, all of lights in my room are smart light bulbs. Of course I can control them via my iPhone, I often change scene by "Hey Siri" of HomePod. So even if HomePod is not playing music and so on, I would get trouble if the HomePod doesn't exist there. By the way, I disable "Hey Siri" option of my iPhone and my iPad. Because I don't use "Hey Siri" of them out of home. Also, because I can call Siri from HomePod in case of at home.
この連載ではまだ書いていないけど、自分の部屋の照明は全部スマート電球になっている。もちろん iPhone でもコントロールできるんだけど、普段は HomePod に『Hey Siri』でシーンを切り替えることが多い。んなわけで HomePod で音楽とかを再生していなくても、HomePod がそこにないと結構困る。ちなみに iPhone と iPad では『Hey Siri』の設定は切ってある。外にいる時に『Hey Siri』は使わないし、家にいる時は HomePod から Siri を呼び出せるからね。
As a speaker of Apple TV.
I wrote a little bit about this on the last of previous article, I normally also use the HomePod as a speaker of Apple TV via AirPlay. Sound quality is much better than speaker of TV itself, it's helpful. If it's possible, I want HomePod to be able to be set as a default speaker of Apple TV instead of the speaker of the TV.
前回の記事の最後にもちょっと書いたけど、普段は AirPlay を使って HomePod を Apple TV のスピーカーとしても使っている。音はテレビのスピーカーより全然いいから助かっている。できることなら HomePod をテレビのスピーカーの代わりに Apple TV のデフォルトのスピーカーとして設定できるようになればなーとは思う。
But still yet pricey.
If your purpose is to use HomePod just as a smart speaker, HomePod mini is much enough. $299, the current price of HomePod not mini is still yet so pricey in the era everyone can get smart speakers around $50. There's no wonder that's why Apple released HomePod mini after all.
If you'd like to use Siri everywhere in rooms at Home, I recommend HomePod mini for you, because you don't need to mind where your iPhone is. Especially if you're living under ecosystem of Apple like me.
HomePod を使う目的がただスマートスピーカーとしてってだけなら HomePod mini で必要十分だと思う。44,800円、誰もが5,000円くらいでスマートスピーカーを買える時代に mini じゃない方の HomePod の今の価格はやっぱり高い。だから結局 HomePod mini が出たんだろうけどね。
家の部屋のどこでも Siri を使いたい人には HomePod mini はオススメ。iPhone がどこにあるとか気にしなくていいから。特に自分みたいに Apple のエコシステムの中で生活しているならね。
