Gadgets and what I use at home #1 - Apple TV
I've used Apple TV since 2nd generation of it which was introduced as "One more hobby" in 2010. There's almost no opportunity to watch TV broadcast itself though, my TV at home works as a display of the Apple TV and so on.
自分は "One more hobby" として2010年に発表された第2世代から Apple TV を使っている。テレビの放送自体を見る機会はほぼないけど、自宅のテレビは Apple TV とかのディスプレイとして活躍してくれている。
Siri Remote.
The Apple TV currently I use is 4th generaion's one. 1st generation Siri Remote which was included to the 4th generation Apple TV let me feel comfortable at the beginning. I used to use Siri Remote since then though.
自分は第4世代の Apple TV を今は使っている。その第4世代の Apple TV に同梱されていた第1世代の Siri Remote は最初は快適に感じていた。それからは Siri Remote を使っていたんだけど・・・。
Current generation Siri Remote got started to include with 2nd generation Apple TV 4K. Also this Siri Remote was released as an independent product for old generation Apple TV users. This is awesome.
Apple TV supports Siri as you get from the name of Siri Remote, but it's less powerful than Siri on iPhone, iPad and HomePod, actually I don't use Siri on the Apple TV in reality. On 1st generation Siri Remote, a button for Siri was arranged on surface with other buttons. On 2nd generation Siri Remote, that button was moved to the right side.
One more thing about Siri Remote. There's power button on surface of 2nd generation Siri Remote. This is great. This made me able to power on/off both of my TV and the Apple TV together by one push. This is extremely useful for me who use TV just as a display of the Apple TV.
今の世代の Siri Remote は第2世代の Apple TV 4Kで同梱されるようになった。で、この Siri Remote は古い世代の Apple TV ユーザーのために独立した製品としても発売された。これがすごくいい。
Siri Remote って名前からもわかるように Apple TV は Siri をサポートしているんだけど、iPhone とか iPad とか HomePod の Siri と比べると微妙。実際に自分は Apple TV では Siri は使っていない。第1世代の Siri Remote だと Siri のボタンが他のボタンと一緒に表面に配置されていた。第2世代の Siri Remote ではそのボタンが右側に移動された。
Siri Remote についてもうひとつ。第2世代では電源ボタンがある。これのおかげで電源ボタンを押すだけでテレビと Apple TV の電源操作を同時にできるようになった。これはテレビをほぼ Apple TV のディスプレイとして使っている自分にとっては超便利。
YouTube on Apple TV.
This is a personal point, it's also awesome "YouTube on TV" on official app of YouTube for iPhone and iPad. Watching videos on YouTube on Apple TV, we can add other videos to queue to play next from our smartphone in hand. This is different stuff from AirPlay on iOS, so battery of iPhone itself doesn't drain. Pretty nice, because YouTube app normally drains battery a lot.
これは個人的なことなんだけど、YouTube の公式アプリの『YouTube on TV』もめちゃくちゃいい。Apple TV の YouTube で動画を見ながら、手元のスマホから次に再生する動画をキューに追加できたりもする。これは iOS の AirPlay とは違うもので iPhone 自体のバッテリーは消耗されない。YouTube のアプリってバッテリーを結構消耗させるし、これっていいよね。
