One day@Kabukicho #DAY185 - It's pretty rare to find someone who shares the same sense of humor in those not-so-mainstream comedy bits.
These days, when I go out, I usually just carry one camera in my bag, the Leica M-P Typ 240. But thinking back, in my mid to late 20s, I feel like I used to always have one camera in my bag and another one hanging around my neck, even when I was heading to work.
The combo I remember most clearly is when I used to carry the OLYMPUS PEN E-P1 together with the Leica D-LUX 4. The PEN was my main camera, and I'd only use the D-LUX when I wanted a wider angle.
I looked it up and saw that the PEN was released in July 2009, and I feel like I bought it pretty soon after, so that makes it more than 15 years ago now. By the way, the PEN was the first interchangeable-lens digital camera I ever owned. I think I bought the D-LUX 4 a few months later, though I don't remember the exact timing.
Lately in other articles I've been bringing up megapixels here and there. The OLYMPUS PEN E-P1 had about 12.3 megapixels, and the Leica D-LUX 4 had about 10.1. Even when I look at the photos I took back then on my iPad Pro today, I don't really feel like the image quality is bad or off in any way. Maybe if I had been cropping as much as I do now, there might've been times when it felt limiting... but then again, the Leica Q's 50mm crop is only around 8 megapixels. So having about 10 megapixels really isn't such a weak spec after all.
As usual, I was hanging out with my friend this day, but there's this small shared concern between us. It's that the comedy videos we find funny are hard to share or relate to with other people. On the other hand, we talked about how maybe it's exactly because of that shared quirk that we can spend time together without having to be overly self-conscious.
I feel like I've seen this sign somewhere else in Kabukicho before, but I can't remember when or where that was.
The Lawson I mentioned in my previous article, the one that had been closed since May with no set reopening date, suddenly reopened without any notice. The interior and layout inside looked pretty much the same as before. It had been closed for about four months, but in the end, I never did find out why. Anyway, since I had just mentioned it in my previous article, I figured I'd give a quick update, the store has reopened.
I actually wanted to take more photos of people on the streets, but for some reason I just couldn't do it this day. So I ended up with more landscape-style shots. Maybe it's just the nature of street photography that we can't always get the shots we want. But if I keep chasing the kind of shots I want and still can't get them, before I know it, 3 or 4 hours have passed and it's already morning. I wonder what kind of shots I'll get next time.
See you then.
