One day＠Kabukicho #DAY154 - A night when I couldn't quite take any interesting photos, so I took a so-what attitude.
This week, I have been being busy on weekdays, so I finally went to the city of Kabukicho for the first time in almost a week. It looks like this busy schedule will probably continue into next week and more, but I want to try to go to the city of Kabukicho on weekdays as much as possible. Nope, I don't mean that I want to drink alcohol or anything like that. I don't drink. It's just that it helps me relax and change my mood.
今週は平日ずっとバタバタしていて、ほぼ一週間ぶりに歌舞伎町の街にやっと行ってきた。たぶん来週以降もこのバタバタはまだ続くことになりそうだけど、できるだけ平日にも歌舞伎町の街に行きたいなー。いや、別にお酒が飲みたいとかそういうわけじゃないっすよ。飲まないし。ただ気分転換になるから。
I took a decent amount of photos on this day, but I couldn't find many that I thought "Hmm, this one is good." I wondered why, and I tried to think about it for a moment, but well, if I keep taking photos in the same city for over 150 times, there are bound to be days like that.
なんかなぁ、この日は枚数はそれなりに撮ったんだけど、なかなか『これいい感じかなー？』って思える写真が少なくって。なんでなんだろう？とか一応考えてみたんだけど、そりゃまあ150回以上も同じ街で延々と写真を撮っていたら、そんな日だってあるよなと。
I couldn't take photos I really think it's good, but spending time with my friend, chatting things which're whatever to everyone as usual is still as enjoyable ever. So, in terms of the shoot, the result was subtle, but it's okay overall.
でもまあいいかなーって写真はなかなか撮れなかったけど、いつも通りに友達とどーでもいいようなことを話しながら過ごす時間は相変わらず楽しいもので。だから撮影的には微妙な結果だけど、全体を通してみれば結果オーライ。
I didn't have much of a sense of accomplishment while shooting like that, so the shooting on this day took a lot more time than usual. I usually only take about an hour in total, but I may have taken close to 2 hours on this day.
ただそんな感じでなかなか撮影をしている中での手応えがなかったのもあって、この日の撮影はいつもよりだいぶ時間をかけてしまった。いつもはトータルで長くても1時間くらいなもんなんだけど、この日は2時間近く撮ってたかも。
If I can't take any photos with a sense of accomplishment, I end up following a flow of success that comes from a certain kind of experience and arrogance like "I should be able to take something decent if I take it this way!". This is so bad. Especially with street snaps, trying to do "It'll be better photo if I try this way" based on experience diminishes the enjoyment of the act of taking photos itself. It may be one way to get an achievement by that method if it's work, but nothing stops me think it will deviate from the essence of being a hobby activity if I do that in the world of hobbies.
そして手応えがあるものが撮れないと『こう撮ったらそれなりのが撮れるはず！』っていう、ある種の経験と驕りからくる成功のフローを辿ってしまって。これがよくない。特にストリートスナップなんてもんは経験則での『こう撮ればいい』をやってみたところで、撮影している行為そのものの楽しさが薄れてしまう。仕事ならそう言う方法で結果を求めるのも一つの解ではあるのかもしれないけれども、趣味の世界でそれをやってしまったら趣味の活動であることの本質から外れてしまう気がしてならない。
It was in the last 15 or 20 minutes when I came up with the idea of aiming for something completely ridiculous rather than trying to take something interesting based on such empirical rules.
そんな経験則から撮れるおもしろいものを狙うくらいなら、いっそ突き抜けてくだらないものを狙ってみるか、って発想になったのは最後の15分とか20分だった。
So, instead of being like "I'm going to take interesting photos", I got to think "I'll take various photos and if there happens to be something interesting, that's good" after all. This photo is the one. I was taking with a so-what attitude, but when I got home and developed, it turned out quite nice. I don't know how others feel, but personally, I think I could take something interesting.
で、結果として『おもしろいものを撮るぞー』じゃなくて『いろいろ撮ってその結果としておもしろいものがあればいいや』となった。この写真がそうだ。もう開き直って撮っていたんだけど、帰ってきてみて現像していたらなかなかいい感じに撮れていた。他の人がどう感じるかはわからないけど、自分的にはおもしろいのが撮れた。
And this is the last photo of the day. The photo I took itself was not interesting at all, but I tried to create the atmosphere I like through development. Well, this week seems to be is going to be quite busy again. I wonder if I can make time to go for taking photos on weekdays? It would be great if I could go.

そしてこの日最後の一枚。これは撮った写真そのものは全然おもしろくもなんともなかったんだけど、現像で自分が好きな感じの雰囲気に仕立て上げてみた。さて、今週もなかなかに忙しそうだ。平日写真撮りに行く余裕作れるかなぁ？行けたらいいんだけど。
