One day＠Kabukicho #DAY157 - Trying changing my perspective a bit by using a different lens than usual.
I've been shooting with the 50mm Summicron for a while now, so I tried to use 75mm APO Summicron for the first time in a while to switch things up a bit. When I looked into it, it seems that the last time I used APO Summicron 75mm to shoot in Kabukicho was early October last year. I like the unique atmosphere of this photo that I chose for the first one for this article.
最近ずーっと 50mm の Summicron で撮っていたから、ちょっと気分転換も兼ねて 75mm の APO Summicron を久しぶりに使って撮ってみた。調べてみたら APO Summicron 75mm で歌舞伎町の街を撮るのは去年の10月初旬以来のことらしい。今回の一枚目にしたこの写真、なんか独特な雰囲気が好き。
The APO Summicron 75mm is the only lens in my Leica collection that can be called "modern". I also have two Summicron lenses, one 35mm and one 50mm, as well as a 50mm Elmar and a 35mm Summaron. However, both of these two Summicron lenses were made in the 1970s. When I looked it up, it seems that the Elmar 50mm was barely made in 2000, but the Summaron 35mm was probably made in 1949. That's really old. The hair color of a boy in this photo, presumably a male companion of a club, looks nice.
APO Summicron 75mm は自分が持っているライカのレンズの中では唯一の『モダン』と呼べるレンズ。他には Summicron を 35mm と 50mm の2本、50mm の Elmar と 35mm の Summaron を持っているけど、この2本の Summicron はどちらも1970年代製。Elmar 50mm は調べてみたらかろうじて2000年製みたいだけど、Summaron 35mm に至ってはたぶん1949年製。古いなー。この写真の・・・おそらくホストの男の子、髪の毛の色がいいなー。
I thought that I might've been going to be unable to take well, so I brought my usual 50mm lens just in case... but it was needless warry. Even though it should've been a long time since I last used it, I didn't feel anything discomfortable, and I started to have more and more fun as I kept taking photos. I've taken photos of this tavern-like shop a lot of times before.
うまく撮れなかったらどうしようって思って、一応いつも使っている 50mm もカバンには入れて行ったんだけど・・・杞憂だった。久しぶりなはずなのに特になんの違和感も感じないし、撮ってたらどんどん楽しくなってきてしまった。この酒場っぽいお店もよく撮っているなぁ。
When I think about it, there was a time when I was always shooting with just this lens. When I checked my records, it seems like I used this lens consistently for about six months from last spring to autumn. I thought it may be nice to take photos of this city with this lens again for a while.
考えてみれば一時期はずーっとこのレンズでばかり撮っている時期もあったもんな。記録を確認してみたら去年の春から秋頃まで約半年くらいはずーっとこのレンズを使っていたみたい。またしばらく、このレンズでこの街を撮るのもいいんじゃないかなーとかって思ってしまったりもした。
Moreover, recently I have been taking photos with a 50mm lens and often cropping them, so maybe there's no feeling out of place even though the angle of view gets more telephoto way slightly. Originally, this city, especially at night, has too much information when taking through a wide lens.
しかも最近も 50mm のレンズで撮ってはいてもトリミングしていることも結構多かったから、きっと画角がちょっと望遠寄りになっても違和感がなかったのかもしれないな。そもそもこの街、特に夜のこの街は広く映るレンズで撮ると情報量が多すぎるんだよ。
The only drawback of this lens is that it's a little heavy. The Summicron 50mm that I have been using a lot recently weighs about 200g, while the APO Summicron 75mm weighs about 430g, which is more than twice as heavy as the former. Since the lenses of Leica are basically made of metal, they're all relatively heavy. Instead, thanks to their slightly heavy weight, they do give a sense of stability when held. By the way, it seems that the camera body itself weighs 680g, so combined it's 1,110g.
ただこのレンズの難点はちょっとだけ重いこと。最近ずーっと使っていた Summicron 50mm は約200gなのに対して、APO Summicron 75mm は約430gとレンズ単体で2倍以上の重さなんだよなぁ。ライカのレンズは鏡胴が基本的に金属だからどれもそれなりに重い。その代わり、ちょっとずっしりしているおかげで構えると安定感はあるんだけどね。ちなみにカメラ本体は680gらしいから、合わせると1,110gかぁ。
This motorbike was placed among scattered garbage when I came last time, and now it has finally ended up in this state. This remained on my mind when I was taking photos last time, so when I found this on this time, I was like "Oh...". Last time it was just like being left, but if it ends up looking so pitiful like this... I wonder if it'll be removed by the next time I visit.
このバイク、前回来た時も散らばるゴミの中に置かれていたんだけど、遂にこんな姿になってしまっていた。前回撮っていた時もちょっと気になっていたので今回これを発見して『あー・・・』って。前回は放置されているなーってだけの感じだったけど、もうこんなふうに無惨な姿になったら・・・次行った時には撤去されているかなぁ。
I thought this last photo I took this time would turn out better when I was taking it, but it didn't look that great after developing it. What a pity. Well, it's not easy to take the perfect photo as I envision. It's all good because it's fun including that.

今回の最後のこの写真は撮ってた時はもっといい感じに撮れているかなーって思って撮っていたんだけど、現像してみたらそうでもなかった。残念。まあなかなか思うような写真を思うようには撮れないものだよね。それも含めて楽しいからいいんだけどね。
