That old iPod shuffle - perfect for when I just want to focus on washing up before closing.
The first-generation iPod shuffle the USB stick-shaped one on the far left. Apple even sold a waterproof case with a neck strap for it, and I used to wear it with that. Back then, when I was working part-time at a pizza shop, I'd use it to focus during those long dishwashing sessions before closing.
一番左側のUSBメモリー型の初代 iPod shuffle。公式のアクセサリーとしてネックストラップ付きの防水ケースも売っていて、それと一緒に使っていた。当時のアルバイト、ピザ屋さんの日々の閉店前の大量の洗い物に集中したい時に。
I'm not sure why, but I suddenly found myself thinking back to those days. Back then, I already owned a third-generation iPod, but I never had the courage to use it while washing dishes, everything got completely splashed. I used to spray the water with quite some force, so if I'd kept it in my apron pocket, it probably would've gotten soaked and broken.
If I remember right, it was that fall when the first iPod nano was announced and I placed an order right after the keynote ended.
今、当時のことをなぜか急にふと思い出して書いてる。ちなみにこの iPod shuffle を使っていた当時、すでに第3世代の iPod は持っていたんだけど、洗い物でびちゃびちゃになるところで使う勇気はなかった。当時自分は結構豪快に水圧使って洗い物をしていたから、きっとエプロンのポケットに入れて使っていたとしたら、濡れて壊れてしまったんじゃないかなーっと。
ちなみに初代 iPod nano が発表されてキーノート終わって速攻で注文したのはその年の秋の話になるのかな。
Every now and then, it's nice to reminisce like this. Still, the way we listen to music has completely changed since back then. Around that time, the iTunes Music Store had just become available in Japan, and I'd started buying music there instead of on CD. Each song was either 150 or 200 yen, there were two price tiers. Hard to believe it's all subscription now.

たまにはこんな思い出話も悪くないな。それにしても当時と今じゃ音楽の聴き方は全く変わったなぁって。当時はやっと iTunes Music Store が日本でも使えるようになった頃で、個人的には音楽は CD じゃなくて iTMS で買うようになった。1曲150円か200円か、2種類の価格設定があったんだよな。今じゃサブスクだもんなぁ。
