Do you need office? - Lifestyle changed so much!!
Real estate value in some of metropolitan area in Japan is decreasing. Of course one big reason is an influence of the new coronavirus. Our lifestyle changed so much comparing to before the coronavirus. About the office today.
日本の大都市圏の不動産価値が下降している。もちろん大きな理由は新型コロナの影響なのは間違いない。生活様式もコロナ以前に比べてかなり変わった。今日はオフィスについて。
Is the office necessary?
I think it is. But now it's different from it was, I guess. So today I'd like to suggest one specific example of an office that I hope.
オフィスは必要だと思う。ただし従来必要とされていたものとは違うとも思う。なので今日はこんなオフィスがいいって例を提案してみよう。

What we absolutely need is meeting rooms. If there's no meeting rooms in the office, that office doesn't make sense, I guess. Though most of meetings can be done even online, there're still some customers or clients who'd like to have meetings with us face to face.
絶対に必要なのはミーティングスペース。ミーティングスペースがないなら、そのオフィス自体意味がないかなと思う。ほとんどの打ち合わせはオンラインで大丈夫だけど、直接会って打ち合わせをしたいっていうお客さんもいると思うから。
In addition, I hope a few work tables that only members of the team can use. For instance, if I arrived at the office 15 minutes before a meeting starts, it would be convinience if I could do some work there until the meeting starts. But it's better that chairs there are not so comfortable ones. If chairs there were comfortable, we might have possibility to keep working there for a long time against the purpose. That's not the purpose of that space.
Other than those areas, working room for ones who'd like to work at office, not at home is necessary. However, it may be preferred to be free-address.
あとメンバー（社員・従業員）だけが使えるワークテーブルも欲しい。例えばミーティングが始まる15分前にオフィスに着いたとして、ミーティングがはじまるまではそこで仕事できると便利だから。だけどそこの椅子はあまり快適ではないものがいい。椅子が快適すぎるとそこで長時間仕事しちゃうかもしれないから。それはその場所の目的と違う。
それ以外には自宅じゃなくてオフィスで仕事したい人向けの執務室が必要。ただしフリーアドレスが好ましいかも。
Anyway, I prefer working at home.
Why do I prefer working at home not at the office? It's simple. It's because I think it's not good idea spending time for commuting to work if it's unnecessary. For instance, it takes about an hour one way to go to the office in my case. It means 2 hours everyday, 10 hours every week, just for commuting. No way, it's same to wasting time.
So if I had 10 hours per week as addition, I would be able to do a lot more things, it's nice to spend that time to learn something, isn't it? Of course I don't purpose to disagree with ones who'd like to work at office.
なぜ自分はオフィスじゃなくて家で仕事している方が好きか。簡単なことで不必要なら通勤のためだけに時間を使うのは賢くないと思うから。例えば自分の場合はオフィスまで片道1時間くらいかかるけど、往復2時間、週に10時間、無駄だよなーと。
例えば毎週10時間時間が浮けば他のことがいろいろできる。勉強時間に使ってもいいし。もちろんオフィスで仕事したいって人を否定する意図はないよ。
