I bought a new iPhone 15 since iPhone 12 mini. Dynamic Island and why "mini" lines are no longer released.
I'd used iPhone 12 mini since it was released, I bought a new iPhone for the first time since then. Personally, "mini" linenups were my favorite, but it's no longer released since iPhone 14.
発売以来 iPhone 12 mini を使っていたんだけどそれ以来の新しい iPhone 買った。個人的に "mini" のラインナップはお気に入りだったんだけど、iPhone 14 以降用意されなくなった。
Why "mini" is no longer released since iPhone 14.
When iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro were originally released last year, I didn't understand why "mini" lineups that used to be released during iPhone 12 to iPhone 13 were no longer released. There used to have to be a lot of people waiting for "mini" lineups to use instead of original iPhone SE which is close size with larger screen, without home button and I was the one, so I'd used the iPhone 12 mini.
去年 iPhone 14 と iPhone 14 Pro がリリースされた時、なんで iPhone 12 と iPhone 13 の間は用意されていた "mini" のラインナップがなくなっちゃったのかわかんなかった。オリジナルの iPhone SE に近いサイズで、だけど大きい画面とホームボタンなしの "mini" のラインナップを待っていた人はいっぱいいたはずで、自分もその一人だったから iPhone 12 mini を使っていた。
Now what I got to notice is that if Apple had been already planning to add Dynamic Island which was originally introduced for iPhone 14 Pro, on announcement of iPhone 15 which is not "Pro" as well, I guess. I mean display size of "mini" lines might've been too small physically to add the Dynamic Island.
今になって気づいたのは、iPhone 14 Pro 用に発表されていた Dynamic Island をすでに Apple は "Pro" じゃない iPhone 15 で追加しようと計画していたんじゃないかなーってこと。要は Dynamic Island を追加するには "mini" の画面サイズじゃ物理的に小さすぎたのではないかな、と。
Anyway, if this is truly the reason of discontinued of "mini" lines, I understand it. And certainly size of display like "mini" is now getting not standard nowadays, larger ones are getting standard even in case of Android smartphones, so it may be not good idea to wait for any smartphones of that size anymore.

まあこれがホントに "mini" がなくなった理由だったら理解はできる。確かに "mini" のサイズはもう一般的じゃなくなってきているし、Android でも大きい方が一般的になってきているし、もうあのサイズのスマホを待っちゃいけないのかもしれないな。
