One day at Kabukicho #DAY117 - I've come to realize that I've made acquaintances in various places around the city.
As I announced on the last article, I went to Kabukicho with my friend for dinner this weekend as well. This time, I tried taking various photos in a different style than before, which I hadn't done much previously.
前回の記事での予告通り今週末も友達とごはんをしに歌舞伎町へ。そして今回は今まであんまり撮ってこなかったような撮り方でいろいろ写真を撮ってみた。
When I was taking photos, someone I didn't know, probably a host or a tout, he gave me words of encouragement "Hey, guy! Are you out shooting today as well? Good job!", I'm so happy to get approached like that by the people in the city.
写真を撮っていたら別に面識がある人ではないんだけど『お兄さん、今日も撮影っすか！お疲れさまです！』ってホストかなんかの客引きの人に労いの言葉をもらってしまった。街の人がそんな感じで声をかけてくれるのはすごいうれしい。
I found a cute Santa Claus running through the crowd.
人混みを小走りで駆け抜けるかわいらしいサンタさんを発見。
When I'm taking photos on streets, sometimes I get asked "Can you take photos of me (or us)?" However, it's a bit unfortunate that those photos cannot be shared in a lot of cases. Anyway, it makes me happy as well by just taking photos of them.
写真を撮っているとたまに『撮ってくれませんかー？』って声をかけられることがある。ただそういう写真はあんまり公開できないようなのが多いのが少し残念。まあ撮ってあげるだけでよろこんでもらえるとこっちもうれしくなるけどね。
The first photo of this article is close to this, actually I practiced quite a bit the style of photography taking like this photo. I don't look through the viewfinder, just holding the camera and simply time the shot, calculating and setting distance roughly ahead of time, so it would be almost in focus somewhat. I think this is a valid approach as one of the ways to use Leica M. It's necessary to practice shooting by this method, but once I get the hang of it, it becomes enjoyable to take photos this way.
この記事の冒頭の写真もそうだけど、この写真みたいな撮り方は実は結構練習した。撮る時にはファインダー覗かずにカメラを持っていてタイミングだけ合わせてシャッターを押すだけ。距離とかは予め合わせてあるからある程度はピント合う。たぶんこれってM型ライカの使い方のひとつとして正しいアプローチだと思う。こういう撮り方、練習は結構必要だったけどある程度習得してできるようになると撮っているのも楽しい。
I didn't put too much thought into the composition and took a photo quickly, but it turned out surprisingly nice.
あんまり構図とか考えずにサクッと撮ったけど意外といい感じ。
So, I and my friend decided to have some udon noodles, so we went to TsuruTonTan on this day and it's been a little while. I've become quite familiar with an important folk looks like a store manager or something at the restaurant, and he always greet me warmly. He thanks me, but I also want to thank him.
さて、そんなわけでこの日はちょっと久しぶりにうどんを食べるかーってことになってつるとんたんへ。お店の店長さんかなんかの偉そうな人とはもうすっかり顔馴染みでいつも声をかけていただく。いつもありがとうございます、と言っていただけるけど、こちらこそいつもありがとうございます。
We moved to another place after having dinner at TsuruTonTan and chatted for a while, it was already early morning when we realized. Since the first trains were running, I said goodbye to my friend and resumed my stroll around Kabukicho.
つるとんたんでごはんを食べた後、別のお店に移動して散々話していて気づいたらもう朝。始発も動き出したってことで友達と別れてまたちょっと歌舞伎町散策を再開。
However, it was already the time that trains were available though it was early morning, it had already been a quite less interesting timeframe. So I thought that I probably wouldn't encounter any interesting scenary of human relationships anymore this day, so I returned to the usual parking lot relatively quickly.
ただ朝って言ってももう始発は走っていたし結構中途半端な時間だったこともあって、もうこの日はおもしろい人間模様には出会えないかなーって思ったから比較的すぐいつもの駐車場に戻ってきた。
I bought couple boxes of cigarettes at the convenience store I usually go this day as well before going back to the parking lot. By the way, I feel like there are hardly any Japanese store staff at the convenience stores in Kabukicho recently.

この日もまた駐車場に戻る前にいつものコンビニに寄ってタバコも買った。それにしても最近歌舞伎町のコンビニの店員さんに日本人ってほとんどいない気がするな。
