One day at Kabukicho #DAY138 - It's been much more enjoyable to take photos after I started developing by myself.
This time, the article starts with a black and white photo. I took this photo in color as usual. But when I got home and was developing it, I felt it something strange a little bit, so I thought that this photo might look better in black and white than in color. That's why I tried making it black and white. I just thought that it would be better in black and white, but there is no particular deep meaning behind it. Maybe there is, but even I'm not sure.
I'm not specifically doing location scouting or anything, I just do street snaps, but I really like this location. This is where I took this photo before. I happened to be walking here when I saw a figure and decided to take a photo of the scene just as it was.
Recently, I realized something. It seems that I don't just like taking photos. After taking photos, adjusting the colors to match any memory and preferences by develping process, ultimately exporting the data in a way that I like. It seems that I enjoy doing all of those.
I think there's nothing bad in photos JPEG straight out of camera which we often see in review articles, especially for cameras and lenses. There seems to be no reason to say that it is bad. I just mean it just seems that it's not enough enjoyable with just that for me personally. Basically everything will depend on the cameras and the lenses in case of JPEG straight out of camera. Because what we taking photos can do is limited. It's only to decide on the equipments and composition and a bit more.
So, it's been much more enjoyable taking photos after I started develping photos myself properly. I really started to strongly feel that way after I could sensibly grasp my own preferred colors and atmosphere, and understand how to reproduce them in development.
So, this time I casually wrote about how "developing photos is fun" with some photos of Kabukicho as usual. And this might be the reason why I don't feel like taking photos with my smartphone. With an iPhone, we can shoot in RAW starting with the Pro series from 12 onwards, but I can't shoot in RAW with the iPhone I normally use which is not the Pro. But even if I were told that I need to buy a Pro series iPhone for that purpose, it's also a different story for me. The story around here may continue a little in the next article as well.
See you then.
