Do you remember the keynote which the original MacBook Air was introduced by Steve Jobs?

"There's Something in the Air"

As an exception, there could be one model of MacBook Air which is lighter than current iPad Pro w/ Magic Keyboard. That is MacBook Air 11inch which was introduced in 2010 for the first time. That's the one which Steve Jobs called "There's younger brother" at the keynote.

Actually I bought that MacBook Air 11inch at Apple Store, Ginza, next day of the announcement. So let me remember how it was and let me write a bit.

Latest iPad Pro 11inch w/ Magic Keyboard is thinner and lighter.

Nowadays, everyone doesn't takes care of weight and thickness of computers than days which the original MacBook Air was announced. One of the reason now we don't take care of them, because differences of weight and thickness between each products are smaller than that days.

The introduction of the original MacBook Air was so shocking. It's more than 10 years ago though, criterion of weight and thickness of computers is still almost same to latest computers.

iPad, iPhone, Mac. How about notes or notebooks?

To be honest, I like Microsoft Surface as hardware. I don't like softwares developed by Microsoft, however I like hardwares made by Microsoft. Okay, I actually have the Surface, but I rarely use it. If iPad wasn't introduced in history, I might've used the Surface instead of currnet iPad though.

By the way, iPad sometimes used to be rated such "That is a bigger screen iPhone", especially just after the introduction of the original "first-generation" iPad.

I agree with some part of that sort of commentaries even now. But on the other hand, that is also strength of iPad at the same time.

Smartphone is useful. But even if screen size of smartphones got larger than they used to be, what we can do with smartphone is still limited because of screen size.

Nowadays, we can draw on big campus of iPad using Apple Pencil. This is the experience which was unable to be done only iPhone.

Let me introduce some examples.

This is a pretty same thing that we use both note and notebook. Some people need only note, and same to that some people need only notebook. And some people use both of them. Just try to imagine that note is smartphone, notebook is iPad. You see. You can do almost same things on both of them, however they both have each uniqueness and contexts, don't they?

This example is very close to the situation of comparation between Mac and iPad. Both of them are not going to be one together. And they don't need to be one device.

What we must have is smartphone. What many of us need is iPad. Some people may need Mac.

One day, Steve (Yeah, it's Jobs) called Mac "Track". I think that is absolutely the answer. Just few years ago, we used to be unable to do complicated stuff which nowadays we do, using computers.

For instance, calendar is the one.

About 20 years ago, people used to be able to check thier calendars only in front of screen of thier computers. Nowadays we can check them just our smartphones. So it means if you only use calendars, what you need is only smartphone.

Do you want to create documents? Do you hope to create them on bigger screen? Can you do it all on your smartphone? If there're more than two ways, it depends on you. If there's only one way, we have to choose the product which we can do what we want to.

That's only the fact.
