Where would be a good place to walk around and take photos, other than Kabukicho?
It's been three years since I started taking photos in Kabukicho. Most of the time, I'm out shooting at night or late at night. I've taken photos a few times during the daytime in the past, but these days I hardly ever go there during the day. After three years of shooting the same place, I kinda feel like trying out another city sometimes.
歌舞伎町で写真を撮るようになって3年になる。基本的には夜〜深夜の写真ばかり撮っている。過去に何度か昼間の時間帯の写真を撮っていたこともあったようだけど、今現在は昼間の時間帯に歌舞伎町に行くことはまずない。さて、3年も撮り続けていると、たまには他の街で撮ってみたくもなるわけだ。
Looking back at the photos I've taken over the past few years, I realized that most of them are from Kabukicho, and of course almost all of those are nighttime shots. Other than that, since I often have errands in Kichijoji, I sometimes take photos around there, and those were easy to find among my photos.
ここ数年に撮った写真を改めて振り返ってみると、歌舞伎町で撮った写真が多すぎて、そしてそれらは当然の如く夜の写真ばっかりだ。そしてそれ以外は吉祥寺に定期的に用事がある生活をしているので、その時とかにたまーに吉祥寺周辺で写真を撮っているのが手元の写真の中からすぐに見つかった。
Besides that, since our company's HQ is in Shibuya, I also have some photos from around the office, as well as from the area around the government offices in Shibuya, which is our jurisdiction.
それ以外にもうちの会社の本社が渋谷にあるから、本社界隈の写真があったり、渋谷が担当区域の役所界隈の写真があったり。
This article was written in 2023, but the photos I used were actually taken in 2020. I remember it well, it was in Akihabara. I kind of wish I could walk around and explore more lightly, like I used to back then.
この記事は書いたのは2023年だけど、使っている写真は2020年撮影のものらしい。覚えている。秋葉原。この頃みたいにもっとフットワーク軽く散策したいなー。
It doesn't have to be a beautiful or "Instagrammable" place at all. I just want somewhere fun to walk around and take photos while strolling. And if I can be a little picky, it'd be nice if there are some buildings or spots that make for good photos.
For city photos, areas with a lot of people are more interesting. Or even decaying shopping streets. I guess I just like shooting places that feel touched by people.
そんなにキレイな場所でなくていいし、所謂インスタ映えするような場所じゃなくて全然いいんだ。ただ散歩しながら写真を撮って歩くのが楽しい場所で、ちょっとだけ贅沢を言うと、それなりに絵になるような建物だったりなんだりがあるような場所、そういう場所を求めている。
街の写真としてはやっぱり人口密度の高いエリアの方が魅力的ではあるんだよな。それか退廃した商店街とか。そこに人間の手が入っているようなところを撮るのが好きかも。
It might sound a bit obvious choice, but maybe places along the Chuo Line like Ogikubo, Koenji, or even Kichijoji would be the safe bet?
I think I'll try to look for places that are fun to walk around and take photos.
すごいベタな気もするけど、荻窪とか高円寺とか、吉祥寺もそうだけど中央線沿線が無難でいいのかなぁ？
撮り歩くのが楽しい場所、探してみようと思います。
