My loving computer of old days #1 - SONY VAIO PCG-C1R
I have used a lot of computers before. There's been ones that I could love, also there's been ones I couldn't like. Today, I'd like to write about SONY VAIO PCG-C1R from my loving computer of old days.
これまでにたくさんのコンピュータを使ってきた。大好きになれるものもあれば、好きになれないものもあった。今日は昔使ってて好きだったコンピュータの中から SONY VAIO PCG-C1R について書いてみよう。
SONY VAIO PCG-C1R
SONY VAIO PCG C1R is the one I used when I was high school. It was originally released in early 1999 though, I got it as second hand after entering high school. It was unique in that days, camera was built-in. No other computers had cameras at that days different from nowadays. On the other hand, not same to current, network infrastructure was poor late 90s, so there was almost no way to use effectively. This was also the fact. Anyway, I played with that camera though.
SONY VAIO PCG C1R は高校生の頃に使っていた。もともと1999年発売なんだけど、自分は高校に入ってから中古で手に入れた。当時としては珍しくカメラが内蔵されていた。当時は今と違ってカメラ内蔵のコンピュータなんて他になかった。その一方で通信インフラが今と違って90年代後半当時は貧弱だったのもあって、使い道があまりなかった。これもまた事実だった。まあそのカメラで遊んではいたけどね。
Ultra portable.
I used C1R so much, put into my bag everyday when I was freshman of the college, until I buy iBook G4 as a next computer. However, laptops these days didn't work for long time by only battery, battery life was about 2 hours. So taking AC-adapter with it was always necessary. Whole the things were totally different from current age computers, anyway.
But you would know looking a picture of C1R itself above, it was super portable. And also it had full-size keyboard. Era has changed, but I still think it was a great computer.
C1R は iBook G4 を買うまで、大学1年の頃は毎日カバンに入れてよく使っていた。ただ当時のラップトップはバッテリーだけでは長い時間は使えなくて・・・だいたいバッテリーで動くのは2時間。だから電源アダプタは必ず持っていかなきゃいけなくて・・・まあとにかく全てが現代のコンピュータとは全く違ったわけだ。
ただ上の C1R の写真を見てわかるかと思うけど、すごい小さくて軽かった。で、キーボードもフルサイズ。時代は変わったけど、それでもなおいいコンピュータだったと思うなぁ。
