One day at Kabukicho #DAY113 - December has just come, but the city is already an atmosphere of Christmas.
Finally, it's December, the last month of the year. It's only just become December, but the streets are already filled with an atmosphere of Christmas. The last month of the year, it looks like it's going to be an incredibly busy month...
遂に今年も最後の12月。と、まだ12月になったばかりなんだけど街はすっかりクリスマスの雰囲気に溢れかえっていた。今年最後の一ヶ月、めちゃくちゃ忙しい一ヶ月になりそうなんだよなぁ・・・。
I had been working until just before heading out to Kabukicho on this day as well, so I arrived right before the time we promised to see. After having dinner, somehow I went to Don Quijote on Shokuan Street with my friend.
この日も歌舞伎町に出かける直前までずーっと仕事をしていて待ち合わせの時間ギリギリに到着。ごはんも食べてなんとなく友達と一緒に職安通りのドンキへ。
After I dropped my friend off at a taxi, I took a walk around Kabukicho as well as usual. By the way, my friend who got into the taxi apparently waved at me, but I didn't notice at all. Right after that, I received a message saying "I waved at you (laughs)" as a light protest. I was so sorry.
友達をタクシーに乗せた後はまた歌舞伎町の街を撮り歩く。ちなみにタクシーに乗った友達が手を振ってくれたらしいんだけど自分は全く気づかなくって、直後に『手振ったのに（笑）』って軽く抗議のメッセージが送られてきていた。すんませんでした。
This is just a wall of a hotel, but when I took a photo of it, it became to look like an incredibly elaborate sculpture.
これ、ただのホテルの壁なんだけどなんか写真に撮ったらすごい大袈裟な彫刻作品みたいになった。
When I last visited here, they had finished demolishing it and were starting to level the ground. But now, there was already asphalt laid out. I wonder if they're not going to build a new building and are going to expand a parking lot I usually used, which's temporary closed due to the construction?
前回ここに来た時は取り壊しが終わって地面を整地し出していたけど、もうすっかりアスファルトが敷かれていた。もしかして新しい建物が建つんじゃなくって、今工事のせいで使えなくなっている自分がいつも使っていた駐車場が拡張されるのか？
There were various materials that seemed like they could be used to create a parking lot. This place is where I've taken for a long time, so I'm interested in what this place is going to be like.
なんか駐車場作るのに使いそうな資材もいろいろ置いてあるし。この場所はずっと撮り続けているからこの先もどうなっていくのかがすごい気になっている。
This is a photos which is really out of focus, but there were a lot of photos like this in the film photography age, I thought. I also thought that even a photo which is out of focus like this, it still works as a photo.
これってかなりピントが合ってない写真なんだけど、フィルム時代の写真ってこんなの多かったなーって。そしてこのくらいピントが合っていなくても全然写真としては成立するんだな、とも思った。
It's interesting that this city looks like dangerous, but it's actually safer than everyone imagines. If this was in some entertainment districts in overseas and once we stepped into some dark alley like this, it would be absolutely dangerous. Certainly, there's some underground stuff in dark places even in Kabukicho, but we almost never get attacked as soon as stepping into places like that.
この街は危険なようで安全だったりもするのがおもしろい。海外の歓楽街だったらこんな暗闇の裏通りに入ったら絶対超危ないもん。まあ確かに歌舞伎町でも暗いところではアンダーグラウンドなことがあったりするんだろうけど、暗闇に入った瞬間に襲われるってことはまずない。
There's something that makes us feel an atmosphere of Christmas again. The hats of Santa Clause.
ここにもまたクリスマスの雰囲気を感じさせるものが。サンタの帽子だ。
Personally the birthday of Yuzu-san is more important than Christmas for me. It's December 15th. He's gonna be 5 years old this month. We started living together when he was about 6 months old. I take commemorative photos every year on his birthday, and I plan to take them this month as well.

今月は個人的にはクリスマスよりもゆずさんの誕生日の方が重要なんだよな。12月15日ね。5歳になりますよ。一緒に暮らし出したのは生後半年くらいの頃。毎年誕生日には記念写真を撮っていて今月も撮る予定っす。
