One day＠Kabukicho #DAY186 - My friend said she had a present for me, so we met up in Kabukicho.

My friend went somewhere with her mom, and she called me out just to give me the souvenir. It just occurred to me that I often get souvenirs, gifts, and all sorts of things, but I've hardly ever been the one to give something in return...

Alright, sudden shift here, but I went and tried out the FUJIFILM X half at a store, the very same camera I wrote about in this article. I didn't actually buy it and put it through real use with my own money, I only fiddled with it a bit at the store, but even from that, I was able to confirm that this camera just isn't something I need. I don't want to accumulate more stuff, but actually trying out things I'm interested in and confirming that I don't really need them is quite a meaningful process.

If I had it on hand, I might use it to take photos of Yuzu-san, but it's not exactly a cheap camera, and I didn't feel the need to go that far to get it. The concept is probably completely different, so it's not a direct comparison, but I already have the SONY RX100III, which is about almost the same size anyway.

I realized while writing this article, it's already been almost three years since I bought the RX100III. I think I bought it as a kind of Christmas present to myself back in 2022. I usually take my Leica M-P Typ 240 and Leica Q with me when I travel, but maybe I'll throw the RX100III in my bag for the next trip too. It doesn't take up much space anyway.

That reminds me, my friend asked me to pick up something as a souvenir whenever I get the chance. It's snacks or goods from Matsuda Pet in my hometown, Nagaoka City, Niigata. It kind of went a little viral on social media last year or the year before, right? Apparently the keyword "Nagaoka" reminds her of me, so I was really surprised when that familiar signboard image got sent to me by my friend who was born and raised in Tokyo.

On this day, besides this photo, I saw a few people passed out on the street. Basically, I don't assume there'd be actual dead bodies lying in the middle of such a busy downtown area, so it's fine, but if you don't take the surroundings into account, when someone's just lying there on the street like this, you can't really tell if they're alive or dead.

And actually, both my friend and I completely forgot about the souvenir this day, and it wasn't until the next day that my friend realized it and sent me a message. And now we're in the middle of discussing what to do about the souvenir we missed out on, but since it doesn't seem to be anything perishable, I guess I'll just get it the next time we meet.

Somehow we completely forgot the original purpose and just hung out like we always do, but that's fine. I had a good time as usual anyway. I didn't shoot a lot of photos, but I still got plenty of shots that I found interesting. I wonder why just being able to take a photo of someone lying down as if dead makes me feel so satisfied with the day.
