MF

Somehow AF is something troublesome for me. AF often doesn't focus where I want it to, also it's troublesome to set AF point every time by pushing buttons. I prefer to focus simply by turning a focus ring instead of that. So I rarely use AF even using OM-D, especially taking photo of scenary. In addition, I rarely photograph fast moving things. Originally there isn't AF feature itself in case of Leica M, anyway.

In addition, after I started using Leica M digital, I got to be able to forgive hand shaking. This is a quite interesting story.

なんちゅーか自分は AF はあんまりよくないみたい。AF だと合わせたいところに合わないことがよくあるし、毎回ボタンを押して AF ポイントを設定するのもめんどくさい。なら単純にフォーカスリングを回してピント合わせる方がいい。だから OM-D を使う時も AF はあまり使わないし、特に風景を撮る時は使わない。それに早く動くものを撮ることもほとんどないし。ちなみにM型ライカの場合はそもそも AF 自体がないけどね。

それからデジタルのM型ライカを使うようになってからは手ぶれを許せるようになった。これはちょっとおもしろい話で。

I got able to forgive hand shaking.

When I can use enough fast shutter speed, hand shaking doesn't happen of course. But in case of me, opportunity to photograph at night is much, so sometimes it's difficult to set faster shutter speed like 1/125 sec. If it's possible, I don't want to set ISO up to more than 1600 and sometimes the shutter speed has to be around 1/4 sec then.

A photo by 1/4 sec shutter speed is the photo above. It's hand shaked. But I don't dislike this. Of course it's not on purpose though, it's not bad that photos like this would be taken sometimes. It could be one way to enjoy photography and I noticed that recently.

シャッタスピードを稼げる時はもちろん手ぶれなんて起きないんだけど、自分の場合、夜に写真を撮ることが多いから・・・例えば 1/125 秒とか早いスピードを使うのが難しいことがある。できる限り ISO 感度は 1600 以上にはしたくないし、そうなるとシャッター速度も 1/4 秒とかにしないといけないこともある。

1/4 秒で撮った写真が上の写真。手ぶれしているね。けどこれは嫌いじゃない。もちろん意図的にやったわけじゃないんだけど、こういう写真が撮れるのも悪くないと思う。こういうのも写真の楽しみ方のひとつなのかもしれないし、そうなんじゃないかなーって最近気づいた。
