FUJIFILM X half、欲しいなーってカメラが出た
Recently, a camera came out that I instantly felt like I wanted. The FUJIFILM X half. But I'm not gonna buy it. If I had any more cameras, I wouldn't really be able to put them to use. In the first place, I do take the Q with me when I travel, but for regular outings, while the M-P stays in my bag all the time, I hardly even bring the Q along. Still, I do feel like going to a store just to try it out and see what it's like.
最近直感的にこのカメラ欲しいなーってカメラが出た。FUJIFILM X half。でも買わない。これ以上カメラ持っていても使い分けられない。そもそも旅行の時は Q も持って行っているけど、普段の外出の時は M-P はカバンに入れっぱなしだけど、Q ですらあまり持ち歩くこともないし。ただ店頭に行ってどんな感じなのか触ってみたいな、くらいの感覚はある。
But the thing is, this camera doesn't come with an EVF. It does have a simple optical viewfinder, so you can't really use it to focus while looking through it. So in practice, I guess you'd have to focus first using the rear screen and then use the viewfinder just for framing. Or maybe you'd just end up relying on the rear screen to shoot, or just go with pan focus.
ただね、このカメラ、EVF 付いてないんだよね。素通しの光学式のファインダーはついているけど。だからファインダー覗いてピント合わせて撮影、みたいなことはできないと思う。実際に使うとなったら事前に背面モニターでピント合わせて、ファインダーでフレーミングする、みたいな使い方になるのかな。もしくは背面モニター頼りでそのまま撮っちゃうか、パンフォーカスで撮っちゃうか。
When I think of FUJIFILM's compact cameras, I usually imagine the X100 series with its hybrid finder that combines an optical viewfinder and an EVF, something other manufacturers never really attempt. So I was honestly pretty surprised by the finder on the X half. Maybe it was due to cost reasons or something.
FUJIFILM のコンデジっていうと、X100 シリーズみたいに光学ファインダーと EVF を組み合わせた変態ファインダーってイメージがあったから、X half のファインダーについては正直結構意外だった。コスト的な問題とかもあったのかな。
By the way, in an article I wrote a little while ago, I mentioned that 24 megapixels is plenty. But this camera that came out in 2025 has an effective resolution of 17.74 megapixels. That shows the manufacturer also thinks "Yeah, this much is more than enough.", right?
ちなみにちょっと前に書いた記事で画素数について言及していて、2,400万画素もあれば十分だよね、みたいなことを書いていたんだけど、2025年に出たこのカメラの有効画素数は1,774画素。メーカーだってもうそのくらいの画素数があれば必要十分だよね？って思ってるってことだよね。
Recently, lots of cameras are being marketed more for their video performance than for still photos. Sure, 8K needs around 35 megapixels, but even 4K only requires about 8.5 megapixels to hold up dot by dot. When it comes to printed stuff using still photos, with modern cameras, it's not like you ever think "The image quality looks bad.".
最近はスチル写真じゃなくて動画性能を謳う機種もすごい増えてきているけど、一応 8K まで行くと3,500万画素くらい必要になってくるんだろうけど、4K ですら850万画素前後あればドットバイドットに耐えられるくらいの画素数だっていうね。スチル写真を使った印刷物だって、昨今のカメラの画素数で『画質が荒れてるなー』とか思うことすらないわけだし。
If a few months from now I write "I bought it", go ahead and laugh. But honestly, I'll probably be satisfied just by handling the actual camera at a store.
